Herbaceous annual plant, Cornflower is native to Europe and grows to 90 cm tall. The plant requires full sun positions and well-drained soils.

Its flowers appear during summer and are particularly interesting for bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects. The flowers of Centaurea cyanus can also be eaten raw, dried or cooked added to salads, drinks or deserts for garnishing purposes. Use its dried petals also in herbal teas and spices.

Cornflower flowers are edible, both fresh and in dried form. They can be used in salads, cocktails, desserts and to flavor and color infusions and spices.
